Day 2

Marrakech to Skoura via Ait Ben Haddou

This morning, we will take the road to Skoura. We will make a stop at the UNESCO-protected village of Ait Ben Haddou, which is one of the most beautiful examples of Berber architecture. A place I have been wanting to visit for years! Afterward, lunch we will continue our route to our hotel in Skoura.

After check in, our driver will pick us up to transport us to a Berber house. Here, we'll embark on an exceptional culinary journey, participating in a one-of-a-kind cooking class. Image the aromatic smells of the local cusine, amidst the palm oasis in Skoura.

You will be welcomed by a local rural family in their home where you will get the chance to learn more about the local culture and discover all about a unique style of living related to the oasis.

Prepare yourself for an unforgettable adventure in a distinctive traditional setting. Delve into the details of everyday meals and savor the delight of delicious dishes. This is also an opportunity to gain insights into various spices, cooking techniques, ingredient selection, and the overall culinary process involved in preparing a diverse array of dishes.

You will learn step by step how to prepare a traditional local meal and eat it together with the welcomed family members in a friendly warm sphere.

Day 3

Skoura to Merzouga via Todra Gorge

In the morning we leave Skoura behind and head East through the beautiful Valley du Dades, driving up the deep gorges with many stops for the scenery. This epic road amongst the valley has been on my Pinterest board for ages. This valley is known as both the “Valley of Roses” and the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs”. Later we will be in ‘Todra Gorge’, one of the most dramatic natural sites in Morocco. Take a walk along the spectacular gorges.

In the afternoon continue the journey across the semi Saharan plains to reach your final destination, the Great Saharan Dunes of Merzouga. Here you will enjoy a memorable experience in a private desert Bivouac. The Sahara is a great desert area in North Africa that extends from the Atlantic Ocean eastward past the Red Sea to Iraq.

This is the largest in the world, about 1600 km wide and about 5000 km long from east to west. Once settled, you will ride camels over the impressive dunes and watch a magnificent sunset before dinner in your private desert camp.

Hotel: Desert Luxury Camp

Included: Breakfast, Transportation

Day 4

Today by the morning you will enjoy sandboarding on the Merzouga dunes, then you leave Merzouga and head west crossing arid mountains, inhabited by Ait Atta Berber tribe, known for true nomads in the south.

Villages are built around small oases where some farming struggles with dry climates. You will encounter nomads herding folks of goats and camels. Getting to Draa Valley, one of the green areas in the South, also representing the largest palm grove in the South. Who knew Morocco could be so green!

We will be driving through a lot of ksours and Kasbahs to Zagora, the capital of the south that was once an important caravan trade center.

Hotel: Kasbah Hnini

Included: Breakfast

Day 5

Leave Zagora to Marrakech via Agdez.

Today we will make our way back to Marrakech. We will start our crossing of the High Atlas mountains and go as high as 7000 ft altitude at the Tizi N’Tichka pass before you drive down to the plains of Marrakech.

At night we will head to dinner and enjoy some of the best cocktails and meditteranan cuisine.

Hotel: Riad La Clé D'Or

Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 6

Time for a morning adventure! This is a round-trip through the lush and dramatic Atlas landscapes for an unforgettable Berber experience and an eye-opening, hands-on adventure.

Roll up your sleeves and let's get to work! We will bake bread and prepare tagine in the kitchen of a village family and get to know them better over a pot of traditional mint tea. We will get our hands stuck into wet clay in a ceramics workshop and try our hands at weaving a colorful kilim with the local women.

We will walk through the farmed terraces to see the ancient irrigation system and the subsistence farming methods. We will also visit the charity preschool center where the local children are educated.

Hotel: Riad La Clé D'Or

Included: Breakfast

Day 7

Wake up in Marrakech. The ancient capital of the Kingdom, preserves Morocco's rich traditions and way of life. Our guided tour will explore the exquisite architecture and history of old palaces and shrines, including iconic sites like Badii Palace, Saadian Tombs, and the Secret Garden in La Medina. This immersive experience combines the city's glorious past with the vibrant present, offering a glimpse into the captivating stories and cultural treasures that define Marrakech.

A delightful walking tour inside the colorful Souks in the Medina of Marrakech. This experience will offer us a feast for our senses as we will taste some local produce, smell the fragrance of the local spices and oils, touch the texture of the local fabrics, see the colorful markets and listen to the sounds of everyday life in this world of its own.
