    Day 2 October 22nd

Today you will discover Jordan's capital, Amman. By exploring both the ancient and modern parts of the city you'll gain insight into the daily life as well as the historic culture of Jordan.

Explore the crumbling ruins of the ancient Citadel, which sits proudly atop a hill and overlooks Amman’s Labyrinthine downtown. Marvel at the colossal pillars of the Temple of Hercules (larger than any temple in Rome) and wander around the remains of the Governor's Palace and Mosque, both later Islamic constructions.

In the afternoon we will visit Jerash, a tour through the colonnaded street, amphitheater, Churches, temples, and the vast Roman Forum. Hidden for centuries in sand before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years, Jerash reveals a fine example of the grand, formal provincial urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East.

    Day 3 October 23rd

After breakfast let's head to visit Madaba. Known as the City of Mosaics, here we will visit its most famous mosaic, discovered in 1884 when Greek Orthodox Christians uncovered it among the rubble of an old Byzantine chapel on the construction site of their new church.

Continue to visit the sanctuary at Mount Nebo, then you will visit Mt. Nebo, 10 km Northwest of Madaba

Next we will see the Saint George Church of Madaba, the "map of Palestine" unearthed in 1898 during the construction of the church. This barely altered mid-sixth-century mosaic traces the geography of the Byzantine Near East.
