Get baptised where Jesus is said to have been baptised in AD 29. Located just half an hour’s drive from Amman, the site of John the Baptist's settlement at 'Bethany Beyond the Jordan' is where many believe Jesus was baptized in the perennial riverbed. This story has long been accounted for in the Bible (John 1:28 and 10:40), as well as Byzantine and medieval texts, but the identification of the exact spot has been disputed by scholars.

'Bethany Beyond the Jordan' has been identified on the east bank of the Jordan River near the dead sea, in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where John the Baptist once lived. Today, it is systematically surveyed, excavated, and restored, to receive pilgrims and visitors. Both a scenic site of pilgrimage and a popular destination for Christians, it is home to Byzantine and Roman remains such as chapels, churches, a monastery, and caves. All have been the site of numerous baptism celebrations.
